The purpose of the thesis is to provide a complete presentation of the cavitation phenomenon in
particular for what concern the case of the valves. The idea behind this work comes from the
valves manufacturer company VAG-Armaturen GmbH that has to face the occurrence of cavitation
in many practical applications

Il presente lavoro di carattere teorico-sperimentale riguardante la propagazione su fondo
asciutto delle onde di sommersione generate dall’apertura di una paratoia nel caso di un fluido viscoplastico
laminare è stato sviluppato in un contesto di collaborazione scientifica tra il
Dipartimento di Idraulica del Politecnico di Milano ed ENEL-HYDRO − Polo Idraulico e
Strutturale di Milano.
